Our Mission
Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska expresses God’s love for all people by providing quality human care services that build and strengthen individual, family, and community life. Our Vision Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska (LFS) will be the organization of first choice by clients, professionals, funders and donors for behavioral health and human care services based upon the organization’s high quality of service, fiscal integrity, mission and values. For 119 years, Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska has served children and families. LFS began as two orphanages in Fremont and Omaha in 1892. Lutherans and their churches remain core supporters today. LFS’ programs and services are available to anyone regardless of age, race, religion or income. 90% of those served are not Lutheran. At least 85% of all donations go directly to client services. Lutheran Family Services is: Statewide. LFS is one of the largest not-for-profit, community-based, multi-service human care organizations in Nebraska, spanning the state in 31 offices, including locations in Council Bluffs and Wichita. We operate within three core competencies: Children Services, Behavioral Health and Community Services. Primarily because of our work with refugees, asylees, and immigrants, you will find 35 languages and dialects spoken within our employee base. Community-based. The organization provides services in a non-residential setting. In this setting, the agency seeks to rebuild and restore individuals back into healthy relationships with families and community whenever possible. Respected. LFS is accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Children and Family Services, a confirmation of the agency’s ongoing commitment to quality care. Those accomplishments are all made possible by a highly-experienced and stable executive leadership team, together with a team of nearly 300 employees and many volunteers all committed to the Lutheran Family Services mission. LFS demonstrates its mission through three broad service areas:
